We first saw illenium at Big Gigantic's Rowdytown in 2016. We were stoked that another local Colorado artist was hitting the big time. Two years later, he had his own Red Rocks show, and we decided to make this remix the week before we went to the event.
For some crazy reason, we were inspired to take the slow-rolling future bass of the original and throw some adrenaline on it. We sped it up to 160 and combined the infamous reverse bass with a straight beat to create that modern UK Hardcore sound, pioneered by legends like Darren Styles and Gammer. This is the slower type of Happy Hardcore, but we have some more tracks coming out next year that will be of the faster variety.
One of my favorite parts of the track is the melodic piano breakdowns. We followed the vocal melody with a handful of various grand pianos and guitars, to create that magical vibe.
Something was missing though ...
When you have a major sounding key, it's always fun to hang on the last minor chord in the structure and build it up into a heavier drop. When you switch to the relative minor, it tends to toughen the track up and allow you to get 10 times more ravey with the bassline and leads.
